Confined indoors by the pandemic, I taught myself to crochet and opened an online store. As a painter and ceramist, my mother introduced me to the fine arts from a young age. From painting on the walls with her as a toddler to working with ceramics and later starting my own crochet business, I have explored many different artistic media. The fine arts have trained my eye to perceive shapes, lines, and shadows as they truly are and to give form to my ideas. These skills have become intrinsic to my thought process, both within and beyond the operating room.
